Draw 10:00 Fishing 11:30 to 17:30.
Weather: - Sunny, 23 degrees, 3mph North-westerly winds.
Last round with it all still to fish for and a section win would put me in the frame. Normally Tony Rixon has had it all sown up by now but this year it has all change with Anton Page with top point going into the last match on 23.
Viaduct is a proper bag up water especially on Campbell and Cary so no messing about it all out for Carp.
3 pegs left in the coffee tin and I wasn’t disappointed with 105 on Cary which gave me a long margin to my right to go at plus the lake shelves away quickly so the 5 metre meat line look promising and 14 metre paste line.
The rigs, my favourite J8T 4x10 margin rig on 0.18 fished on a long line so the pole could be held above the platform of 106, 4x12 J8T 0.18 Meat rig and Sensas Pencil Paste float for 14 metres.
The margin was fed from the start with big pots of Casters Worms and Meat plus the 5 metre line was hand fed with meat by time I finished Tom Thick opposite was playing his first Carp dobbing.
The match started slowly with one lost Carp and 5lb of skimmer to show for the 90min of paste fishing then I had an 8lb at 5metres but that was it on the meat line apart from a few small skimmers.
Going into the last two hours still only had one Carp and 12lb of Silvers so the Margin needed to produce up to now it only produced Perch but by consciously dumping large pots of Casters Worms and Meat things started to work a run of Hybreds up to 3lb then the Carp moved in as long as I keep the feed going in Carp fell regularly to Worm hook baits.
The Match end all too quickly but I please with my last 90min work. 8 Carp went 86lb 7 of them caught from the Margin plus 24lb 2oz of Silvers for 110lb 2oz for a section win taking my overall points to 22 placing me 4th.
Today bait bill was quiet large 4pts Caster ,5 tins of Meat , 11/2 pts of Worm and 1pt of 6mm pellet the majority when into the margin in front of the Platform of 106 were there a 2 square metre flat spot.
Congratulation to Shaun Townsend who won the League with 5 sections wins 25 points pushing Anton Page and Craig Edmonds into 2nd and 3rd.
The 37 anglers that weighed in caught 3486lb 6oz of fish a 94lb average this venue is incredible.
