Viaduct 2012 Winter League.

VIADUCT WINTER LEAGUE.
VIADUCT FISHERY. ROUND 4. 26-02-12.
Peg 129 right hand side of the spit. Campbell Lake Section.
Draw 8:45 Fishing 11:00 to 16:00.

Weather: - Over night frost, Bright 13 degrees, and light North Westerly winds.
Round 4 the penultimate round with Avon Angling lying 3rd a good draw was needed to keep us in the hunt and hopefully claw back some points on Somerset and Thatcher’s in the battle of the fishing shops at the top of the league.
With the temperature expected to hit 15 degrees and it not getting dark into 18:00 winter is now behind us the fish should be waking up out of their winter sleep and hopefully want to feed.
Campbell being my destination for this week it being a match only lake the fish should be ravenous and wanting to spend time in my keep net. Every peg on this lake could produce 100lb and there is no out and out winter flyer as the previous results show the fish never seem to stay in one spot for long. So when Tony handed me peg 129 I was not too worried with the plan to feel my way in and see if the fish were going to play along as yesterdays Open was won on peg 112 which is opposite.
A lead rod, three pole rig 4x12,4x14,4x16 J8 (KC Chimp copy) to 0.12 16 808 and a Margin Rig 4x12 J8T (KC Chimp but slightly thicker Tip and wire) this didn’t produce a bite.
The Match started very slowly going into the 4th hour I had only a hand full of 1oz Roach most of the Carp where showing on the left hand side of the spit with only 5 Carp caught my half of the lake one to Gary Etheridge, Sean Townsend and three to Barry Lucas on the next peg to me 130, 2 fouled and one in the mouth.
In the 4th hour fishing at 16 metres with double Caster had pound Perch and pulled out of three other probably Perch and a pound Skimmer.
The 5th hour three more Skimmers and a Tench bumping off four other good fish and losing a Tench which bust me on the whistle. The scales arrived and my fish went 7lb 15oz for 4 points with 12lb 7oz framing in the Silver fish Pool the chance of recovering some money today was possible only if the fish stayed on.
The team only amassed 43 point putting us 15th on the day and 7th overall looks as if we have blown it.
