Peg 34. Specimen Lake.
Draw 10:00 Fishing 11:30 to 17:30.
Weather: - Sunny, 18 degrees, Light Westerly winds.
Four tickets were left in the bucket and for the third time this series drew peg 34 once at Sedges and for the second time on the trot at Lands End.
The last time I had 90lb plus and was 2nd so I was happy with the peg. On arrival at the peg a brand new platform has been made and some gardening on the island making the Island easier to fish plus you do not have to sit in the mud any more.
Same rigs as last time the 4x10 J10 wire stem rig was easy to find as it still had a worm on the hook!! And the same 4x14 J8T for meat @ 6 metre plus a 4x12 J8T margin rig as the new platform allow you a view of the margin, you have 3½ feet of water here touching the bank even though no fish came from this line it must be worth a few in the Winter.
The Match started slower than last time only Perch, Chub and F1 to start and nearly three hour to catch my first Carp.
I found by cupping large amounts of worm soil with Chop Worm and Caster just short of the island then small pole mounted pots tight in allow most fish to be mouth hooked but a good run of Chub was had fishing in the Soil Cloud. You really need to keep the bait going in and with the high behind you have to break down twice it does pay to be active when fishing this way.
The meat produced just 1 carp 1 F1 and a Skimmer.
Weighed 107lb 8oz total 36lb 12oz was Silvers if it was in the Lake I had one of them.
A lake win, Section win and 1st in the Silvers £60.00 and a great days Fishing.
I told Mike Nicholls that I fed 9 pints of Bait just to wind him up. I only fed 8 pints 4pts of that was Worm Soil plus 2½pts Caster and 1½pts Worm pus 2 tins of Meat @ 6 metres.
Hook bait was 1½” Worm Head.
The match was won by Anton Page on peg 19 with a massive 279lb of Carp caught Shallow and Slapping I have never caught doing this but Anton is a master at it.
